Performing Arts
Developing an understanding across the Arts
The Performing Arts Department at St Andrew’s Prep brings together all the very best in Music, Drama and Dance. Pupils are taught the importance of collaboration and teamwork through the curriculum and co-curricular activity.
Our ethos is to strive for the highest standards in the individual disciplines of the Performing Arts. The exciting part is in combining these skills to help pupils experience – through practical application, the importance each discipline bears on the others. Pupils have many opportunities to perform both in and beyond school.
We have particular expertise in ‘musical theatre’ within the department with West End Professionals teaching the pupils weekly in school. Incredible workshops and trips to the theatre are regularly arranged. Eastbourne boasts three professional theatres including the Congress Theatre which is a ‘number one touring venue’ for all the major professional touring productions. Meanwhile London and Brighton are both easily accessible and we take advantage of this whenever appropriate. Upcoming events in school include workshops with cast members of 42nd Street, Cats and Matilda.
