Advent Fair
Many congratulations to the Friends of St Andrew’s for organising another fabulous Advent fair. The Durlacher Gym was decorated beautifully and housed an array of local, independent business stalls selling, among other items, wooden platters, artwork, knitted gloves and cushions, bunting, breads, cards, wreaths, bags, Christmas decorations and pictures. The Year 7 entrepreneurial stalls were extremely popular and included Splat the Rat and nail painting and some budding business moguls set up Guess the Weight of the Rock. The Juniors set up a table groaning under the weight of chocolate for their tombola and the Middles ran the popular Jolly Jam Jar raffle. The craft stall in the small dining room was very busy with many of the younger children and at various points through the morning, the school choirs sang carols to get shoppers into the festive mood.
Father Christmas was very busy in his sparkly grotto as he chatted to his visitors about expectations and wish lists and the Christmas café was packed as families enjoyed a vast and delicious selection of homemade cakes and pies.
Headmaster, Gareth Jones said, “Many thanks as always to the amazing Friends of St Andrew’s who have staged another magnificent event. They managed to transform many areas of the school into a winter wonderland. We are enormously grateful to them, our staff and our pupils who gave their time and creativity so generously and willingly.”
