Adventures of the Paris Choir Tour
The Choir Tour had a fabulous time in Paris earlier this week. The group of children visited the French capital to sing in Disneyland and the Eglise De La Madeleine
On the first day of the tour, the Choir made a guest appearance in one of the Disneyland theatres. The children delivered their repertoire of stage and show tune stoppers including Oom-Pah-Pah, Where is Love, All in this Together, Baltimore, Fat Sam and an ABBA medley. The audience really were impressed. Following this, the children experienced the adrenaline-inducing thrills of the Disneyland rides and had a great time on Space Mountain, in the Wild West and even in Terror Tower. Seeing the whole cast parade followed by supper at Planet Hollywood rounded off an action-packed yet fun day that will live long in their memory.
On the second day, the children enjoyed a very pleasant sightseeing boat trip along the River Seine, took selfies in front of the Eiffel Tour and then took in panoramic views of the city from the top of the Montparnasse Tower. The choir’s more sacred and secular repertoire was then delivered at the Eglise De La Madeleine, a grand and stunningly beautiful cathedral in central Paris near to Cleopatra’s Needle and the finish line of the Tour De France. With tourists stopping to listen to the wonderful singing and solo instrumentalists, this was a fantastic concert and a fitting venue to end our tour and for our talented Year 8 leavers to bow out.
The last day was dedicated to relaxing, sightseeing and shopping. The Sacre Coeur and Montmartre area provided this part of Parisian culture much to the delight of the souvenir-hunting pupils. An event-free coach trip back to Le Tunnel ensured they boarded the train pretty much on time to round off an action-packed and wonderful trip. Well done to Mr Cousins for his excellent organisation and his staff team for all their hard work on the trip.
