Grow Your Money Project Market
There was great excitement last week as our Year 7 children staged their Headmaster’s Challenge Grow Your Money market.
The Headmaster’s Challenge is an exciting way to raise funds for those who need our support and allows our pupils to think creatively, develop new skills and use them to make a positive social impact. In the spring term, each pupil was given £10 as an investment by the Headmaster. They were then set the task to consult with friends, tutors, parents and house-parents over the Easter break to come up with a big idea for a service or something to make and sell and devise a business plan to grow their investment.
Those with produce to sell, took advantage of the 2019 Market Day with the whole prep school community gathering at the bottom of the field to purchase from the variety of stalls. Products on offer included kites, necklaces and candy floss; cakes, biscuits and protein balls and a spa salon offering head massages and finger nail painting and sponge throwing were also available. As well as those who sold products, others have washed cars, busked or endured a non-stop 12 hour penalty shoot-out to raise money.
Next month, once the monies have all been counted, the philanthropic aspect of the Challenge kicks in when our pupils have the opportunity to pitch on behalf of their preferred charity for a percentage of the sum raised. Well done to all the children that traded and to the parents for their invaluable support.
