Future-Proof Food
Earlier in the week we welcomed Sally Crewe, Holroyd Howe’s nutritionist, to St Andrew’s Prep to talk to our pupils about healthy and sustainable food. The children learnt how plant based proteins contribute to a healthy diet and how some foods have a greater impact on our environment than others.
Sally also talked about the ‘Future-Proof Food’ initiative which aims to help and encourage everyone to eat healthily and reduce waste thus protecting the environment and ensuring there is plenty of food available for the future.
Sally was also available to speak to the children at lunch time with a stand showing different types of plant based proteins and answering questions posed by pupils.
The St Andrew’s Prep catering team are taking great care to adapt dishes to adhere to the Future Proof Food message wherever possible and are introducing initiatives including meat-free Wednesdays.
