This term has been a momentous occasion for St Andrew’s Prep, as both the 1st football team and the Girls 1st hockey team made their mark by qualifying for the IAPS National Finals. The excitement and pride felt throughout the school community are palpable.
Football Team’s Incredible Run at Bede’s
The 1st football team showcased their talent and determination at the IAPS tournament held at Bede’s. After an impressive, unbeaten run in the group stages, they fought their way to the finals with unwavering spirit. The highlight of their journey was a nail-biting semi-final match, where they triumphed 1-0 to secure their spot in the national finals.
Their teamwork, strategy, and resilience were on full display, and we can’t wait to see them shine on the national stage! This achievement marks a significant milestone for our footballers, and the entire school is behind them as they prepare for what lies ahead.
Girls 1st Team’s Hockey Triumph
In an equally thrilling journey, our Girls 1st Team also qualified for the National Hockey Finals! Despite facing challenging weather conditions, they kicked off the @iapsuksport tournament with a bang, securing impressive 3-0 victories against Great Walstead and Edgeborough. Goals from Bea P, Charlotte M, and Giorgia D’A set the tone for their success.
The excitement continued with a tense 0-0 draw against Cumnor House, but the team displayed remarkable grit, edging out Windelsham 1-0 in the quarterfinals. Their determination shone through in the semi-finals, where they faced a strong Cranleigh team. Rising to the challenge, they secured a thrilling 3-2 victory against St. Edmonds, with Bea P scoring a spectacular hat-trick!
