A Midsummer Night’s Dream
Last week, the Drama Masterclass (a year 8 drama extension group) staged two superb performances of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream with a seasonal difference. The children stunned the audience with mature and energetic performances enhanced by some wonderful dance, directed by our dance teacher, Mrs Robinson. Director, Mrs Adams, gave the play a wintry feel and a contemporary setting in the school’s own version of the Wooden ‘O’. Despite being penned more than 400 years ago, the children not only understood the play but were able to convey the piece for the appreciative audience and are to be congratulated.. It is opportunities like this alongside the school’s superb music, musical theatre and LAMDA offering that will make these children the next generation of theatre lovers, artistic directors, costume designers and actors. Well done all.
