Boys 1st XI cricket team head for IAPS National Finals
Well done to the boys’ 1st XI cricket team which has qualified for the IAPS National Cricket finals following their impressive performance yesterday against a strong New Beacon side.
Played on College Field at Eastbourne College, St Andrew’s Prep lost the toss and bowled first, restricting New Beacon to 124 from their 25 overs. In reply, the boys chased down the total, losing just six wickets in the process.
Forty-four teams entered the competition and St Andrew’s Prep now joins three other schools (to be announced) in the finals, scheduled to take place next Wednesday 26 June at Hall Grove school, Surrey.
Headmaster, Gareth Jones commented, “This is a tremendous achievement by the boys and our excellent coaching team. Their place in the finals is well justified and is the culmination of hard work and commitment alongside the school’s superb indoor and outdoor facilities. We all wish them the very best of luck next week”.
St Andrew’s Prep was named in the top 50 prep schools in the country in The Cricketer Good Schools Guide 2019 magazine which deems the school to have some of the best facilities, coaching and fixture programme in the country.
