Raising a glass to Rabbie Burns
Rabbie Burns would have been proud of the sell-out Friends of St Andrew’s Burns Night jamboree on Saturday evening. Alongside parents from each year group, a number of former parents returned to St Andrew’s for the sensationally successful tartan shindig.
Guests were royally entertained with a hilarious speech and toasts to the lads and lasses from Grant McFarlane, Jemma Jones and Rob Hill and by Louise Goswami who offered a fascinating insight into the life of Rabbie himself. Musical accompaniment was provided by Michelle Radley, Rachel and Paul Shouksmith and the guests sang along heartily to Auld Lang Syne. And as if that wasn’t enough, Sarah and James Leighton kindly offered a much-admired Scottish dancing demonstration and Daniel Fathers recited a Burns poem.
Held in the gym, guests feasted on a delicious smoked salmon mousse starter followed by traditional haggis, neeps and tatties.
We are so grateful to the Friends for their tireless preparation for the evening, to all the parents who generously donated their time and gifts for the raffle which raised £525 for the JPK Project and to Ted and the Holroyde Howe team for the tasty catering.
