Rory and Felix at Cannes Film Festival
St Andrew’s Prep pupils and actors Felix and Rory Ford (Years 3 and 5 respectively) are back from their weekend at the Cannes Film Festival where they attended the opening of their feature film, ‘Adventure Boyz’ alongside their mum and dad who also starred, directed and produced the visually stunning family adventure film.
Set in Eastbourne, with both St Andrew’s Prep and Eastbourne College used as a backdrop, the film is due to hit cinemas this summer. The motion picture tells the story of a Speedway-racing father and his two sons who get caught up with a gang of diamond thieves and are thrust into an epic adventure, but there is a ‘blue health’ subplot running through the film of “get off your devices and get out there”.
The boys are finding the limelight somewhat bemusing with locals asking for autographs and photos with the ‘stars’. Dressed in their distinctive St Andrew’s Prep school blazers, the boys were even stopped for photos when exiting the plane from Cannes.
Rory said, “Cannes was great fun. I was surprised people wanted to photograph us so much before the film was on; it was a bit embarrassing at first but then they all seemed nice. In Cannes, Felix and I liked all the flashy cars the most and seeing the super yachts!’
Response to the film has been wholly positive. The boys’ father, Howard Ford said, “the reaction has been amazing. Several people admitted laughing one minute and crying the next and others related the film to their own innocent childhoods.”
Adventure Boyz will be back locally at the Hailsham Pavilion cinema with ‘opening weekend’ screenings on 20 and 21 July, and subsequent screenings every week throughout the school summer holidays. The film is also being shown in more than 30 other cinemas across the UK, eventually heading worldwide.
