St Andrew’s Prep in Top 50 Cricket Prep Schools for third consecutive year
For the third consecutive year, St Andrew’s Prep is delighted to have been included in the Top 50 Cricket Prep Schools in the country by The Cricketer Good Schools Guide 2021 magazine. A record number of entries were received with schools being judged against an extensive set of criteria. The successful few were deemed to have the best facilities, fixture programme and coaching in the country.
St Andrew’s Prep benefits from the fantastic coaching expertise of Head of Cricket, Mark Tomsett (MCC YC’s Captain and Sussex 2nd XI), and Cricket professionals, Rob Ferley (Kent and Nottinghamshire) and James Tredwell (England and Kent).
Headmaster, Gareth Jones commented, “With competition curtailed this year, we still hold the U13 Boys’ Sussex County Cup won in 2019 and, as a result of that, our 1st XI went on to play at the 2019 IAPS National Cup where they finished third.
“Our cricketers benefit from our wonderful indoor and outdoor practice and playing facilities which allow us to host local cricket clubs in addition to our own schools fixtures. All our girls and boys, from Year 3 to Year 8, learn to appreciate this wonderful game and to achieve their own potential with many involved at local club, district and county level.”
Mark Tomsett said, “To have maintained our place within this important publication is a wonderful achievement and recognises the efforts of the coaching team, our pupils, and, of course, our ground staff. The accolade also demonstrates that St Andrew’s Prep values and develops all of its cricketers at St Andrew’s Prep.”
