Summer Spectacular
The Summer Spectacular on Friday evening was, well, spectacular, with an expansive programme that highlighted the breadth of music on offer at St Andrew’s. And, for the first time, dance also featured.
From a drumming group and musical solos, to contemporary dance routines, the school orchestra plus assorted choirs and a tap dance performance, it was a feast for the audience packed into the gym.
Many congratulations to each of the performers and to the staff who prepared them. It was triumph!
The evening’s entertainment continued. Following a screening of the Headmaster’s Swim Challenge showing Mr Jones taking to the sea daily to raise money for the school pavilion, parents and Summer Spectacular performers spilled onto the lower school field for a picnic and jazz evening, wonderfully organised by the Friends of St Andrew’s. To continue the fundraising for the pavilion, teaching and support staff offered their time, skills and energy to the highest bidders of 25 promises. Among the auction of promises was: a murder mystery dinner party; catering for an afternoon tea with bubbly; organising a children’s party and providing a taxi service to Gatwick airport. With money still coming in, the event has raised £3,346 (and if everyone gift aids their donations, that will total a fantastic £4,182).
If you would like to make a contribution to the Pavilion Fund, please either follow the steps on the Friends of St Andrew’s website (look for Pavilion Fund 2018) or simply write a cheque made payable to St Andrew’s Prep and hand it in to Annette Adams, the Headmaster’s PA with Pavilion Fund written on the back.
Many thanks to the Eastbourne College Jazz Band and the St Andrew’s Prep Rock Band who provided the entertainment for the second half of the evening.
